Indian Trail, NC

Indian Trail was named by traders in the 1700s traveling along the “Indian Trail,” which ran from Petersburg, Virginia, to the Waxhaw Indians and gold mining areas. Indian Trail is located in the southern portion of the Piedmont region of North Carolina and in the northwestern portion of Union County, which is among the 10 fastest-growing counties in the United States. Indian Trail is a rapidly growing suburb approximately 10 miles southeast of Charlotte. It went from originally being a trading town to gold mining to an agricultural center. Then later it transformed again into a transportation hub when the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad was built between Charlotte and Monroe.

Indian Trail offers three beautiful parks, including Crooked Creek Park, Chestnut Square Park, and Crossings Paths Park. Crooked Creek Park has a wonderful playground area, dog park, disc golf, trails and walking track and picnic shelters. It also has a Splashpad! Great for those hot summer afternoons. Chestnut Square Park has an artificial turf area, walking track, tennis court as well as picnic shelters and playground. Community events and movie nights are held at Crossing Path Park’s pavilion.

Every Fourth of July the town puts on an annual parade which is one of the biggest parades in the greater Charlotte area. This is one of several events sponsored by the Town Council. Wise Acres Organic Farm is also a popular place to visit with pick your own USDA-certified organic seasonal produce. The Sweet Union Brewery is the perfect place to grab a beer or pick up a meal from their food trucks.
Indian Trail, NC offers great public schools with high ratings. The average home price is $420,000. Indian Trail has single family homes, condos and townhomes as well as several 55 plus communities.
