Belmont is a wonderful area, located only 12 miles west of Uptown Charlotte, easily accessed by I 85. The Charlotte Douglas International Airport is only 15 minutes away. Belmont is located in Gaston County, which borders the Charlotte Mecklenburg County line and York County in South Carolina and the Lake Wylie area of South Carolina. Belmont is flanked by two rivers, the Catawba and the South Fork River. This gives the town abundant access to waterways for water activities such as kayaking, boating, fishing, etc. The world-class Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens is 380 acres of meadows, woodlands and lakefront property. The Belmont town center is a hub for restaurants, shops, and other activities.

The McLean community is 5 minutes from the shoreline of Lake Wylie and only 30 minutes to the center of Charlotte with easy access to the airport, shopping and big city entertainment. This McLean development began in 2015 and there is still some new construction in the area. This is a 670 acre master planned community along five miles of the Lake Wylie shoreline. The public marina has just opened and has fully enclosed dry storage as well as wet slips with electric, water and WiFi. There is access to the main channel from the marina. A restaurant named Drift, affiliated with the Pump House in Rock Hill, SC, will be opening onsite.

The South Shore neighborhood has a variety of single family homes including luxury custom homes on the lake. Many top builders are still building in this area but there are some resales. These homesites range from ½ acre to more than 1 acre in size. Many of the lots have lake views and lake access. The price point on these homes are from $600,00 to over 2 million. The amenities at South Shore include a state of the art clubhouse and pool, overlooking the lake as well as a network of trails, parks and gardens.

The Conservancy at McLean has low maintenance, cottage style, single family homes. These homes have 1 and 2 story floor plans and lawn maintenance is included in your homeowner’s dues. The price range of these homes are from $375,000 and up. This phase of McLean is sold out but there are homes for resale. The amenities range from a pool and clubhouse complete with a fitness center to a fishing pond and pet park. There is easy access to Lake Wyle via a lakeside nature trail. This area is close to the outstanding Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens and the trails of the Seven Oaks Nature Preserve.

Overlake offers a variety of traditional single family homes. The prices on these homes are from $350,000 and up. There is still lots of new construction in this area. The builders in this area are Evans Coghill Homes, Empire Communities and Tri Pointe Homes. The amenities include a pool, pavilion and play park as well as numerous green spaces and nature trails. This community is directly across from Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens.

All three of these neighborhoods have access to the Seven Oaks Preserve Trails, a popular trail for runners, walkers, cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts. The Seven Oaks Preserve is 78 acres of land which winds along the shoreline of Lake Wylie and connects to other trails at the Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens. It is also a part of the Carolina Thread Trail, a 1500 mile network of greenways, trails and blueways.

River Hills, Gaston Country Club, Carolina Country Club, Regent Park and many other private and fee-play golf courses are nearby.

There are many choices for homebuyers in this area from new construction to resale homes. Belmont is an up and coming area with lots of great amenities yet with small town charm.
